Madam Monday

I reserve Mondays to recognize jet-setting women who are making great strides in their communities.  I call these features "Madam Mondays!" Today we ask,

 "Who is Kyia Hobson?"

God, People, and Impact.  Those are the three things that get Ms. Hobson out of bed in the morning.  This super spontaneous, full-time college student, and dedicated entrepreneur is always on the go.  She is motivated by her zeal for God and her passion for people.

Plainly put Ms. Hobson is a mini-mogul ready to take the world by storm.  She is a wardrobe stylist, author, successful playwright, youth & women's minister, and an "Oreo Overload" Ice Cream Fanatic.  Through all of the wonderful chaos, she is always sharing a smile and a word of encouragement.

Ms. Hobson's book, "Walking By Faith, Surrounded By Favor" is a 62-day devotional book on faith and favor.  "I was in college and it was tough for me because I've always been a little business woman.  God was giving me all of these ideas, and I had to endure the process.  I didn't feel like I was accomplishing what I needed to accomplish." Ms. Hobson learned then, that the journey is what makes you.  "It's in the journey that most people give up.  I really needed faith, motivation, and encouragement during this pruning process."  This wonderful book is now available on her site: http://www.kyiahobson.com/

Ms. Hobson has a lot going on in her fabulous universe.  She is conducting a fashion summit called "Style Therapy."  It is a 2-day workshop session that provides women of all ages and backgrounds the inside scoop on how to have the wardrobe that they've always wanted.  She is hosting women's empowerment classes in March and acting classes classes in April.  She also plans to put out a book in 2015, a new play, and a fashion show.

How does she balance it all? "Discipline," says the Richmond, VA native.  "I schedule out my days, use many post notes, I have an agenda, and I keep vision boards that map out all my projects in my room"

Her advice to women interested in becoming youth counselors, ministers, fashionistas, or directors in the creative arts? ---  "Start with your level's best and don't despise small beginnings. Whatever you purpose in your heart and ask God for, know that with hard work and prayer it can happen!" She believes women can definitely have it all. Watch out for her world! Two claps for this fabulous madam... (well, mademoiselle).
