I reserve Mondays to recognize jet-setting women who are making great strides in their communities.  I call these features "Madam Mondays!"

For the Type A, workaholic, "go-getters," or those who aspire to be so, this is a read for you.

This Monday we ask,

Who is Stevie Coleman?

Connecting. Coaching. Traveling.

These are the words that describe this young Senior Human Resources (HR) Generalist, Hiring Manager, and Imo's Pizza Fanatic.

Stevie Coleman is a native of St. Louis, Missouri, but has been bouncing around the United States since she left for college at age 18. She received both her Bachelors & Masters Degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Illinois, and she also spent a semester studying International Business at the University College Dublin in Ireland.  She has spent the last year and a half working for a Fortune 100 company in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and recently accepted a promotion for the same company in Houston, Texas. [Takes a moment to breathe]. So how does she balance it all and still manage to look fabulous?

"List making is my best friend," says the Youtube Vlogger Addict.  "Sometimes I'll write something on a to-do list just so I can check it off.  Prioritization is the only thing that allows me to have a bit of a social life."

Her daily routine is filled with spontaneity, so both organization and flexibility are key!

"Honestly, there's no such thing as a typical day! I'm in HR and I have responsibilities over four small repair & overhaul sites in four different states - Arizona, Texas, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania.  There's a new surprise each day.  I come in the door with a plan and it often changes, especially if I'm traveling that week.  I speak to at least two of the site leaders per day, attend at least two tier meetings at whatever site I'm visiting and start trying to chip away at my very long to-do list.  On a good day I'll go to the gym somewhere in there as well."

Ms. Coleman surrounds herself with positivity and inspiration.  For example, Ms. Coleman keeps a picture of Ursula Burns, the first African-American CEO to head a Fortune 500 company, on the background of her work computer for motivation.  "I'm always trying to 'dream a little bigger, darling' and think outside the box when it comes to my career."  Also in the midst of her jet-setting, Ms. Coleman schedules visits with her friends who live near and far; keeps up with family members via social media; and FaceTimes loved ones often to keep in touch.  Furthermore, this hard worker loves to laugh.  "I want the world to remember me as someone who is reliable and fun to be around.  I like to get stuff done, but I'll probably joke my way through it."

While Ms. Coleman is dedicated to her field, she is not sworn off from discovering new passions.  "I'd love to be a VP of Human Resources one day but I know that that dream is likely to change..Since I could talk, my dad has always told me that I need to have fun every single day so whatever will allow me to go to bed happy is what I'll do.  Today I really like HR, but the second I don't I'll find something else that makes me happy.  I hate how cheesy that sounds, but it really is the truth."

Ms. Coleman advises people, who are interested in pursuing a career in human resources, to quickly develop tough skin.

"Nothing that happens is personal; it really is just about business.  Do not be afraid to speak up and voice your opinion on what your business partners are doing.  Learn and understand the business you're supporting...Being in HR is all about being comfortable in a lot of situations that are anything but; don't get discouraged or intimidated."

Outside of the world of HR, Ms. Coleman also serves as the hiring manager of HerAgenda.com - a digital database of resources, inspiration, and empowerment for women.  She created the internship program from start to finish and is responsible for selecting interns on a quarterly basis; traveling to New York to set hiring strategy for the year; and creating content for the site on topics relating to career advancement.

Ms. Coleman assures the world that women can indeed have it all, and with a smile on their face.

"I believe anyone with a level head, confidence, and an 'actionable' plan can have it all! I wish more women had the confidence to balance both a career and personal life...men have been doing it for years, so why can't we?"
