Self-Care Start: Weekly Guide for Beginners Vol. 2

You're drowning in work.  You're burnout.  You're exhausted.  And instead of taking a moment to yourself, instead of taking care of yourself, you continue to grind on E.  People need you.  This assignment HAS to get done.  You always deliver.  But this system leaves you vulnerable to breakdowns, careless mistakes, and to fatigue.  Self-care sounds trendy and even times expensive, but here are this week's ways to make sure you're preserving your magic, without breaking the bank.

1) Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR)

I thought I was the only person in the world like this, but I LOVE the sound of a distant whisper or a soft voice.  Sometimes when it's time to go to sleep, I specifically look for youtube videos of people reading poems or children's books in a soft whisper. (Don't judge).  Recently I discovered that I'm not alone.  I am a fan of Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response or ASMR.  It's a euphoric experience that is characterized by a sensation on the skin that usually begins on the scalp and moves down the back, neck, and upper spine, sending those who experience it into relaxation  ASMR has been used as a cure for insomnia, depression, anxiety, and panic attacks.  It can trigger positive feelings and relaxation.  If you're looking for a way to relax, find a non-creepy Youtuber, sit and listen to the the soft sounds.  (If it's not your thing, try #2)

2) Bye Ashy! - Step Up The Skin Care

Summer is approaching.  It's time to step up your skin care regimen.  On top of removing dead skin, exfoliating your skin helps increase blood circulation and break down toxins. You can purchase a scrub for under $20.  I use the Bath & Body Works Eucalyptus Sugar Scrub.  You use it in the shower after washing, rinse it off, and your skin is smooth and moisturized.  They also last a very long time.  I've had mine since June.  There are also lots of recipes that allow you to make your own organic scrub.  Vlogger and Self-Care Advocate, Francheska Medina ("Hey Fran Hey") takes you step-by-step through the Body-Scrub-Making process.

3) Listen to the Best of the 90's playlist

When's the last time you sat and listened to your favorite songs, in your bed, while staring at the ceiling? When is the last time you let your mind wonder to music that guides you to nostalgia without any interruption?  Do it.  Find R&B 90's playlist on Spotify, or build it in Apple Music.  Sit and see where your mind leads you.
